Most HR professionals have never scored their broker. They accept the relationship they have because they don't know what a better one looks like.

Here's the problem with that: your broker is getting paid whether they're serving you well or not. The commission comes from the insurance carrier, not from you. Which means there's no financial pressure on your broker to pick up the phone, fight for your employees, or bring you a better option at renewal.

If you've ever Googled a benefits question instead of calling your broker, if open enrollment felt like something you were doing mostly alone, or if you got a 15 percent renewal increase with no real explanation, you may be getting less than you're entitled to.

This scorecard tells you where you stand.

25 questions. 6 categories. One clear answer.

Use this scorecard to rate your current broker on the things that actually matter:

❋ Responsiveness

Are they reachable when you need them, or only when it's convenient for them?

❋ Year-Round Support

Do they proactively flag compliance deadlines and bring you useful information?

❋ Open Enrollment Partnership

Led by experienced guides who know how to hold space, encourage participation, and keep things moving with purpose.

❋ Strategic Value

Are they helping you think about your benefits program strategically, or just processing your renewal every year?

❋ Employee Advocacy

When an employee has a billing issue or claim dispute, do they handle it or do they send it back to you?

❋ Compliance Support

Are they actively assisting with Section 125, ERISA documents, COBRA, ACA reporting, and Form 5500 filings?
